Leaks suggest Samsung's Galaxy S27 series will overhaul the rear camera to integrate a Qi2-compatible magnetic system, freeing space for chargers and mounts.
Samsung seems to be preparing noticeable changes in the look of its flagship phones. According to leaks, the Galaxy S27 series could feature a redesigned camera module, marking the first time in several generations that the company moves away from the familiar vertical arrangement used since the Galaxy S22.
The reason for the change is more about functionality than aesthetics. Reports indicate that Samsung plans to integrate a magnetic system similar to Qi2-supporting solutions into the phones. This would allow the use of magnetic accessories—including chargers, power banks, and mounts—without needing special cases.
Rumor has it that the current camera layout interferes with the implementation of a magnetic ring inside the body, as it occupies space needed for the new system. That's why the company is considering a full redesign of the back panel to free up room for additional components.
Similar changes were originally expected for the Galaxy S26 series but never happened. Now, everything points to the transition taking place with the Galaxy S27, though the final decision may depend on development costs. If successful, this will be one of Samsung's most significant design updates in recent years.
