Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era, the new turn-based strategy, sold over 250,000 copies on Steam Early Access in 24 hours with 92% positive reviews.
Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era has made a confident start in early access, quickly turning into a highlight for fans of classic turn-based strategy. Hooded Horse, Unfrozen Studio, and Ubisoft announced that the game shifted 250,000 copies in under 24 hours after launch. According to the publishers, it took about 16 hours to reach that milestone.
For a series that had gone without a full new entry for so long, a launch like this is especially significant. Olden Era is the first new Heroes of Might and Magic game in over a decade, so the high level of interest was predictable. The developers leaned into the legendary series’ familiar foundation, keeping the core elements—turn-based strategy, map exploration, hero progression, and tactical combat—intact.
Hooded Horse CEO Tim Bender remarked that Heroes of Might and Magic has an incredible legacy, and seeing such a positive reaction to Olden Era was deeply meaningful for the team. He added that the game already feels like a new chapter in a classic series that holds many memories for players.
The early access phase will see active development. The team plans to add the remainder of the single-player campaign, new pre-made scenarios, additional map templates, an observer mode, map editor improvements, and various tweaks and adjustments driven by community feedback. This approach should steadily expand the game’s content and cement its standing among genre enthusiasts.
At the time of the announcement, the game had earned a 92% rating and "Very Positive" reviews on Steam from over 2,200 users. It’s available on PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store (through Game Preview), priced at $39.99 / £34.99 / €39.99 / ¥3,980. A 25% discount runs until May 13, 2026, and the game is also included with PC Game Pass.
