iOS 27 Rumors: New Siri App, Satellite Upgrades, and More

iOS 27 rumors point to a dedicated Siri app, expanded satellite with 5G, and AI tools. The update mirrors Snow Leopard, focusing on stability and performance.

Apple is expected to unveil iOS 27 at WWDC 26. The first developer beta typically arrives right after the keynote, followed by a public beta in July, with the final version reaching all users in September. Early reports suggest the update will blend new AI capabilities, expanded satellite connectivity, and stability enhancements.

One of the standout changes could be a dedicated Siri app for iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27. It would let users interact with the assistant via text and voice, and also browse conversation history. Functionally, this would bring Siri closer to services like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude. Apple may also introduce a new Siri interface within the Dynamic Island, complete with search or query prompts and a glowing cursor.

Satellite communication capabilities are also set to expand in iOS 27. The system might add support for 5G over satellite, though rumors indicate this will be limited to the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Ultra equipped with the C2 modem. Other potential additions include using Apple Maps via satellite, sending images through iMessage, integrating satellite functions into third-party apps, and connecting without having to point the iPhone skyward.

Apple is apparently continuing to develop a more personalized Siri, a project that was previously delayed. This version would tap into data from emails, messages, and other apps to deliver more accurate responses. CEO Tim Cook has already stated that the company aims to deliver a more personalized Siri to users this year.

Beyond the headline features, iOS 27 may mirror the Snow Leopard approach—focusing heavily on quality, stability, and performance. Apple is also testing a redesigned virtual keyboard with improved autocorrect, a system-wide Liquid Glass slider for interface transparency, and a handful of new Apple Intelligence tools. These reportedly include food label scanning for calorie counting, digitizing paper business cards into contacts, converting physical loyalty cards to digital, and automatic tab grouping in Safari.
