Wokyis M5 dock adds a 5-inch retro display and SSD slot to Mac Mini M4. Base model $170, Thunderbolt 5 option available. USB-C hub works with many devices.

Wokyis has introduced a quirky new dock that turns the latest Mac Mini M4 into a pint-sized retro Macintosh. Inspired by Apple’s 1980s design language, the M5 Retro Dock Station sits on top of the Mac Mini and connects via USB-C. Pricing starts at $170 for the base model.

The key design highlight is a built-in 5-inch 720p HD display that serves as a compact secondary screen for widgets, a clock, media playback, or a digital photo frame. This small display gives the desktop a nostalgic vibe while adding a dash of extra functionality. Just as important is the integrated M.2 NVMe slot for adding an SSD. This is a particularly welcome feature given Apple’s notoriously steep prices for built-in storage upgrades. It offers a more affordable and flexible way to expand storage using any standard NVMe drive.

Buyers can choose between two configurations. The $170 base model offers 10 Gbps data transfers and includes four USB-A ports, three USB-C ports, SD and microSD card slots, HDMI output, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. The step-up Thunderbolt 5 version costs $340, swaps the HDMI connector for DisplayPort, and adds an extra USB-C port at the back.

While the dock is designed with the Mac Mini in mind, it actually works with any device that supports DisplayPort over USB-C—including MacBooks, Windows computers, Android tablets, and even a Raspberry Pi. So, rather than being just a decorative shell, the M5 Retro Dock Station functions as a genuinely versatile hub.

With upgrade costs climbing and component shortages persisting, accessories like this may find an especially eager audience. For Mac Mini owners, the dock offers a way to prolong the machine’s useful life, add storage, and get that distinctive retro look—all without risky hardware tinkering or permanent modifications.
