One UI 9.0 Development Already Underway for Galaxy S26

Samsung is already developing One UI 9.0, the next major update for Galaxy phones, while still refining One UI 8.5. Beta testing for Galaxy S26 has started.

Samsung isn't waiting around for the current update phase to finish. Instead, it's working ahead. Users are still tracking the release timeline of One UI 8.5 and debating which devices will get the update first, but inside the company, the next major step—One UI 9.0—is already in active development.

This isn't just early planning. Engineers have already entered the practical phase, including preparing the first beta builds of the new interface. The main focus is on the upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup, which typically signals the start of a full testing cycle.

This approach shows parallel development: Samsung is simultaneously polishing One UI 8.5 while laying the foundation for the next big update. That could lead to a faster version transition in the future, though the company hasn't disclosed any official timelines yet.

For now, all we can do is watch how things unfold. Leaks are just starting to surface, and the One UI 9.0 story looks like an early preparation stage for the next-generation interface.
