Samsung has ended support for three mid-range phones: Galaxy A13, A23, and M33 5G. Learn what this means for users and why it's time to upgrade.

Samsung continues to gradually update its list of supported devices, and this time it quietly ended support for three popular mid-range models: the Samsung Galaxy A13, Galaxy A23, and Galaxy M33 5G.

All three smartphones launched in spring 2022 and originally came with One UI 4.0 on Android 12. Over the years, they received regular system updates and security patches, essentially fulfilling the standard four-year support commitment.

The fate of each model, however, played out differently. The Galaxy A13 and A23 each received two major updates, ending with One UI 6 based on Android 14. Meanwhile, the Galaxy M33 5G fared better, getting four updates and reaching One UI 8 on Android 16.

Some M33 5G owners had hoped for an intermediate One UI 8.5 update, but it appears that won't happen now. Going forward, only occasional security patches are likely, and only if critical vulnerabilities emerge.

For those holding onto these phones, the takeaway is clear: active software support is over. If you value the latest features, security, and Android versions, it might be time to consider a newer device, especially since current mid-range Samsung phones now come with up to six years of updates.
