DJI Osmo Mobile 8P gimbal with detachable FrameTap controller offers remote control, real-time view, ActiveTrack 8.0, and long battery life. Starting at €159.
DJI has officially introduced the DJI Osmo Mobile 8P gimbal to the global market, highlighting a new approach to controlling your shots. The standout feature is the detachable Osmo FrameTap controller, included with every version of the device.
This compact magnetic remote weighs about 29 grams and connects via Bluetooth from up to 10 meters away. It does more than just control the gimbal—it lets you see a real-time view from your smartphone’s camera. You can adjust framing remotely, switch the tracking target, control zoom, and even tweak the lighting.
Android users get a screen mirroring feature right on the controller. That means you can film yourself using the phone’s main camera or position the device farther away while still staying in control. Scenarios like these usually call for pricier gear, so this is a smart move for vloggers and solo creators.
The tracking system has also been upgraded. DJI says ActiveTrack 8.0 is better at handling fast-moving scenes and crowded environments, even if the subject briefly leaves the frame. An additional multifunctional module 2 extends tracking to not just people and animals, but also objects like cars or landmarks.
iPhone users get support for Apple DockKit, enabling tracking directly within compatible apps like the native Camera, YouTube, and Blackmagic Camera.
Otherwise, the device keeps the familiar features: 3-axis stabilization, a built-in extendable tripod, a foldable design, and up to 10 hours of battery life. Through the DJI Mimo app, you get additional shooting modes like DynamicZoom, Slow Shutter, Action Shot, and 360-degree rotation.
The DJI Osmo Mobile 8P starts at €159 for the base version and goes up to €219 for expanded kits with extra accessories. It's worth noting that, like its predecessor, this model won't be available in the U.S. market.
