Discover the major iOS 27 Camera app update: customizable controls, per-mode settings, and Siri integration. Make your iPhone photography truly yours.
Apple is preparing a major update to the default Camera app in iOS 27, according to insider Shishir. If the rumor proves true, it could be one of the most significant changes to the iPhone camera in years: users will finally be able to customize the interface to their preferences rather than relying solely on Apple's default layout.
The main innovation is said to be fully customizable controls. iPhone owners will be able to choose which buttons and tools appear on the shooting screen. For example, flash, resolution, Night mode, and other features can be added or removed as widgets, leaving only what is needed in everyday shooting.
Different camera modes are rumored to have their own settings. Photo, video, portrait, and other sections will each get their own tool sets and unique layouts. This is especially useful for those who frequently switch between shooting videos, portraits, and regular shots: each mode can be customized for a specific scenario.
The insider also mentions a new Add Widgets panel. It can be summoned by swiping up to quickly add or remove tools from the menu. This approach could make the camera interface cleaner while still giving users quick access to important functions.
Another key part of the update will be Siri integration directly within the Camera app. Through the assistant, users are expected to be able to access Visual Intelligence, text translation, and other smart features. If Apple actually implements these capabilities in iOS 27, the iPhone camera will become not only more flexible but also significantly smarter.
