Google's Contextual Hints feature uses AI to predict your next actions on Android 16. It automatically suggests music, navigation, and more based on habits.
Google is slowly introducing a new feature for Android called Contextual Hints. It uses AI to predict what a user might want to do next. The feature has already started appearing in the stable version of Android 16.
The system learns common smartphone habits and offers relevant actions at the right time. For instance, if you always play music when you get to the gym, Android can automatically suggest opening your favorite music app. Similarly, it can recommend navigation, launch services, or offer quick actions based on your location and behavior.
Until now, Contextual Hints were only available to a small group of beta testers using Google Play Services. But users have spotted it on devices running the stable Android 16 firmware, including the Pixel 10.
According to the description, the system generates recommendations based on actions and location in apps and services. In practice, this is a more advanced version of the old Android App Actions, but now the AI can combine data from multiple apps and handle more complex scenarios.
Google says the data is stored encrypted on the device itself. However, the company hasn't revealed which AI model it uses or whether all processing happens locally without sending anything to the cloud. It does stress that the information isn't shared with third-party apps.
You can find the new feature under Settings → Google Services → All Services → Other. But it's rolling out gradually, so it might not appear on every device just yet.
