Vivo is developing a pocket camera with a 200MP Sony sensor and built-in gimbal stabilization for vloggers and content creators. Launch expected late 2026.
Vivo is testing a pocket-sized compact camera equipped with a sophisticated stabilization system and a top-tier Sony LYTIA 901 sensor. Sources indicate the device aims to break into the market for vlogger and content creator cameras, currently dominated by DJI and Insta360.
The standout feature is a 200-megapixel 1/1.12-inch sensor — the same Sony LYT-901 module tipped for the upcoming vivo X300 Ultra flagship phone. Essentially, Vivo is porting its premium smartphone imaging tech into a standalone camera.
A built-in gimbal stabilizer ensures smooth video during movement. Rumored specs include 4K recording at 120 fps, hardware-based 4x lossless zoom, and extended dynamic range. Low-light performance gets particular attention thanks to the Quad-Quad Bayer pixel-binning architecture, which groups pixels to boost sensitivity and cut noise.
Vivo is betting on hardware rather than relying solely on computational photography. The sensor includes an embedded AI module that processes images before software post-processing. The goal is sharper detail and more natural colors.
In the compact camera arena, Vivo faces tough competition. DJI already offers the Osmo Pocket 4 with a 1-inch sensor, while Insta360 is readying the Leica-co-developed Luna series. Vivo aims to differentiate with a mix of high resolution, a large sensor, and stabilization in a compact body.
The project remains at the prototype stage. Official details on processor, battery life, pricing, and video codecs are still under wraps. A commercial launch is expected around late 2026.
