Recent rumors about GTA 6 pre-orders opening on May 18 are likely premature. Insider Tom Henderson suggests marketing may not begin until summer. Stay updated on the latest GTA 6 news.
Rumors that GTA 6 pre-orders were about to open appear to have been premature. A recently leaked Best Buy letter led players to believe physical copies would go on pre-order as early as May 18. However, Insider Gaming editor-in-chief Tom Henderson said he hasn't heard of any plans from Rockstar for a major announcement that day.
According to Henderson, real promotion for GTA 6 might not start until summer — around July or even later. He thinks that's when Rockstar could launch a full marketing campaign or release a third trailer. The insider stressed that significant news about the game is more likely in July or August, not in the coming days.
Henderson does not claim the Best Buy letter was fake. He believes it could be genuine but was sent out too early by mistake. That means pre-orders might indeed be in the works, but the official start will probably come closer to the end of summer. Other well-known insiders have also not confirmed rumors of an immediate pre-order launch or a new trailer soon.
Additional talk about GTA 6 could surface before Take-Two's financial conference on May 21. However, Henderson suggests the company will likely only confirm the already announced release window and give standard remarks about future news. Even if pre-orders open earlier than expected, it won't necessarily mean a new trailer or a big presentation.
