Apple's Genmoji in iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 gains intelligent recommendations, analyzing photos and typing to suggest personalized AI emojis. Learn more.
Apple is reportedly working on a new generation of the Genmoji feature for iOS 27 and iPadOS 27. According to a fresh leak from Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, the system will gain intelligent recommendations and will be able to automatically suggest AI-generated emojis.
The new version of Genmoji is said to analyze photos from the user's gallery, as well as their typing habits and frequently used phrases. Based on this data, the system can offer personalized emojis right during conversations.
Genmoji first appeared in iOS 18.2 as part of the Apple Intelligence platform. Initially, it allowed users to create custom emojis from a text description. Later, Apple expanded the feature's capabilities in iOS 26 by adding blending of different emoji styles and more flexible customization tools.
Now Apple seems to want to make Genmoji a more organic part of communication. Instead of manual input, the system could automatically suggest suitable options depending on the context of the conversation and the contents of the photo library.
If the technology works reliably, Genmoji could evolve from an experimental feature into a full-fledged everyday communication tool. However, this approach already raises privacy concerns, since the AI would potentially analyze personal photos and message history.
It remains unclear whether the new system will run entirely on the device. On-device processing without sending data to the cloud has been considered a key advantage of Apple Intelligence so far.
