Xiaomi 17 Max arrives with an 8000mAh battery that delivers 33.3 hours of video playback, surpassing two iPhone 17 Pro Max units combined. Set to launch May 21.

Xiaomi has revealed a key feature of its upcoming Xiaomi 17 Max: an 8000 mAh battery. The company touts it as the most durable battery ever in a Xiaomi smartphone and has published official endurance test results for a long video playback scenario.

In the test, the phone played long videos on Bilibili and managed to last 33.3 hours with the screen on. Xiaomi specifically notes that this exceeds the combined result of two iPhone 17 Pro Max units, which ran the test alternately and achieved a total of 32 hours.

The Xiaomi 17 Max uses the proprietary Jinshajiang battery, marking its first use in a Xiaomi phone. Judging by the company’s focus, the model will be marketed as a device for those who prioritize maximum battery life: long video sessions, gaming, navigation, and heavy use without frequent charging.

The official launch of the Xiaomi 17 Max is set for May 21, alongside other ecosystem products. At the same event, Xiaomi will also introduce the Xiaomi YU7 GT, new ear-hook headphones, the Xiaomi Band 10 Pro, and other devices as part of its “human, car, home” strategy.
