Google may remove GameSnacks from Android Auto as beta builds drop the arcade bundle. Learn why the feature is fading and what Gemini-powered changes come next.

While Google readies a major Android Auto overhaul with Gemini baked in, a refreshed interface, and Pixel 10-style features such as Call Notes and Call Screen, the company is also weighing the removal of options that have fallen out of use. In the spotlight is GameSnacks, a bundle of bite-size arcade games available in Android Auto when the car is parked.

At first, only beta users on Android Auto 15.2 noticed GameSnacks disappear. With version 15.4, more testers report the collection has vanished from the menu. The stable release still shows it for now, but the pattern suggests Google is testing the waters ahead of a full shutdown.

Launched in 2021 as a way to pass time in a parking spot, GameSnacks never really took off. Many drivers prefer to play on their phones, and the feature saw few updates and frequent hiccups. At times the system mistakenly assumed the vehicle was moving and blocked game launches, leaving people to restart the engine or fiddle with the parking brake.

The case for winding the project down is straightforward: low user activity, a lack of development, reliability issues, and—most likely—a shift in Google’s strategy. The company has recently begun adding support for full-fledged titles like Angry Birds and Candy Crush, so the lightweight arcades may simply make room for more polished games.

Google hasn’t offered an official comment. Still, if GameSnacks quietly disappears after the next update, it would be in step with where things are clearly headed.
