Discover the Samsung Galaxy S27: redesigned camera module, 50MP sensors, powerful 2nm chips, enhanced Galaxy AI, and longer battery life. Expected early 2027.
The Samsung Galaxy S27 is shaping up to be the company's base flagship for 2027, but early rumors suggest it could bring a much more substantial upgrade than the usual entry-level model. The phone is said to feature a new design, improved cameras, more powerful chips, fresh Galaxy AI capabilities, and longer battery life.
One of the most noticeable changes could be a redesigned camera module. Samsung has kept a similar look for its base Galaxy S models since the Galaxy S23, but the S27 is rumored to adopt a revised vertical lens arrangement on the back. Up front, the display is expected to be a 6.3-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with slim bezels, rounded corners, HDR10+ support, and a 120 Hz refresh rate. Peak brightness is said to exceed 2600 nits.
The cameras appear to be one of the most interesting aspects of the leak. The Galaxy S27 is rumored to have a triple rear setup with each sensor hitting 50 megapixels: a main camera with optical stabilization, an ultrawide with autofocus, and a telephoto with 3x optical zoom. The front-facing camera is reportedly staying at 12 megapixels but will retain autofocus. All cameras are expected to support 4K video at up to 60 fps, with the main sensor also capable of 8K at 30 fps.
Depending on the region, the phone could ship with different processors. In most markets, a proprietary Exynos 2700 chip is expected, while China and North America will likely get the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro for Galaxy. Both chips are said to be built on a 2nm process and should offer similar performance. The base configuration is rumored to include 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.
Other reported features include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 or newer, UWB, NFC, 5G, and a USB-C port with data transfer speeds up to 5 Gbps. The battery is said to have a capacity of at least 4300 mAh, with support for 25 W wired charging and up to 20 W wireless charging via compatible Qi2.2 devices. Samsung may also add a Polar ID face scanning system alongside the under-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.
The software side is expected to be Android 17 with One UI 9.0. Samsung is reportedly placing a strong emphasis on AI: the phone may come preloaded with Bixby, Gemini, and Perplexity, each supposedly accessible via a separate voice command. Also mentioned are Now Brief and Now Nudges features, which will proactively suggest useful information and deliver contextual recommendations.
The Galaxy S27 is expected to be announced in January or February 2027 at a Galaxy Unpacked event. Pre-orders will likely open on the day of the presentation, with sales starting about two weeks later. The estimated price for the base 256 GB version is around $899, though this could change before the official launch.
