Sennheiser Momentum 5 Wireless headphones offer 57-hour battery, advanced ANC, aptX Lossless, and user-replaceable battery. Available June 16 at $399.99.
Sennheiser has officially launched the Momentum 5 Wireless, the latest generation of its flagship headphone line, targeting users who care about sound quality, comfort, and long battery life.
The new model retains the signature Momentum sound but features a significant functional upgrade. According to product manager Srinath Unnikrishnan, Sennheiser focused on improving the overall user experience without straying from the formula that ensured the predecessor's success.
The audio is powered by the same 42mm drivers as the previous generation, made at Sennheiser's Irish factory. The company drew inspiration from its HD 600 series. The Momentum 5 Wireless boasts Hi-Res Audio certification, Snapdragon Sound support, and aptX Lossless transmission. For sound customization, the Smart Control Plus app offers an 8-band equalizer, custom presets, and intelligent sound adjustment.
A key upgrade is the active noise cancellation. Sennheiser says it's now roughly three times more effective at filtering out distracting voices and ambient noise. The microphone count has also increased to four per side, which should enhance both ANC and call quality.
The Momentum 5 Wireless is built for future improvements through firmware updates. At launch, owners can expect an update adding Dolby Atmos support and head tracking for a deeper sense of presence with compatible content. The headphones use Bluetooth 5.4 and will later gain Bluetooth 6.0 compatibility via a firmware update.
Sennheiser particularly highlighted the device's durability. The new model features a user-replaceable 700 mAh battery that can be swapped out with a standard Phillips screwdriver. Battery life remains a strong point: up to 57 hours with ANC on, plus fast charging support.
The included carrying case is now about 20% smaller, and the packaging is completely plastic-free. The box contains a USB-C cable and a 3.5mm analog audio cable for connecting to various devices and in-car entertainment systems.
Sales begin on June 16. The headphones will be offered in black, white, and denim colors at a recommended price of $399.99.
