Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra in Bluetooth SIG listing confirms naming change. Expected Snapdragon 8 Elite, 200MP camera, 45W charging. More at Unpacked.

Samsung appears to be finalizing a change in its naming scheme for foldable phones. This has now been largely confirmed by a Bluetooth SIG certification for a device called the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.

Five model numbers appear in the documents: SC-56G, SCG39, SM-F976C, SM-F976Q, and SM-F976Z. The key one is SM-F976, as the Galaxy Z Fold 6 was SM-F956 and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 was SM-F966, so this logically continues the flagship Fold line.

This also backs up rumors of a split into two models. If the direct Fold 7 successor is indeed the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, then the name Galaxy Z Fold 8 might go to a wider version, previously referred to in leaks as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide. It's expected to have a larger inner screen and a lighter body.

The Bluetooth SIG certification itself doesn't reveal specs, but previous leaks have described differences between the models. Both are said to pack a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and 45W wired charging. However, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 could weigh just 201 grams and have a dual rear camera, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is expected to feature a triple camera setup, including a 200-megapixel main sensor, a 50-megapixel ultrawide, and a 10-megapixel telephoto with 3x zoom.

An official unveiling of the new foldable Samsung phones is expected at Galaxy Unpacked, rumored to take place on July 22 in London. More leaks are likely before then, but it's already clear that Samsung is preparing not just a routine Fold update, but a more complex lineup with an Ultra model and a separate wide version.
