Steam has released its hardware and software survey results for May 2026. The headline change is the GeForce RTX 3060 reclaiming the top spot in the GPU rankings. NVIDIA's card now holds a 3.85% share among Steam users.
Following the RTX 3060 are the RTX 4060 Laptop at 3.77%, the desktop RTX 4060 at 3.55%, the RTX 3050 at 3.10%, and the RTX 5070 at 2.92%. This data indicates that even as newer GPU families arrive, Steam’s mainstream audience continues to lean on affordable, widely available cards from prior generations.
On the operating system front, Windows 11 keeps gaining ground. Its share jumped by 2.02 percentage points to hit 69.76%. Windows 10, meanwhile, continues to slip, now at just 23.99%. The trend shows Steam users are shifting to Microsoft’s latest OS, driven by modern game support and driver demands.
Full HD remains the go-to monitor resolution. 51.89% of players run 1920x1080 displays, though that figure dropped 0.32 points from last month. 2560x1440 holds second place at 21.20%, also seeing a slight decline of 0.21 points.
