New leaks from case maker Thinborne suggest Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra will feature a wider chassis and larger battery. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 remains largely unchanged. Expected at Galaxy Unpacked in July.
A new accessory leak has once again suggested design changes for Samsung's upcoming foldable smartphones. Case maker Thinborne posted renders for the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and the images align with earlier rumors about a wider format for the new Fold models.
According to the renders, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 stays close to the current design. Samsung appears to be keeping the clamshell's body largely unchanged, focusing on a familiar look and incremental improvements. The real changes are expected in the Fold lineup. Based on previous leaks and mockups, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 should get a wider chassis. The case leaks now indirectly confirm this, as accessory manufacturers typically receive device dimensions from the supply chain early. A wider format would make the outer screen more usable and bring the device closer to competitors that have already moved away from narrow proportions.
For the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, rumors point to a thinner body than the Fold 7 and a 5000 mAh battery, up from the 4400 mAh cell Samsung has used for several generations. The case leak doesn't reveal many new details, but it supports the idea that Samsung is refining its formula rather than pursuing a radical redesign.
Also mentioned is the official Carbon Standing Case with a built-in kickstand. For a large foldable smartphone, such an accessory is particularly fitting: it makes watching videos, video calls, and desk use easier. The official unveiling of the new foldable Galaxy devices is expected at the next Galaxy Unpacked event in July.
