Analysts see CD Projekt Red working on new Cyberpunk 2077 DLC, smaller than Phantom Liberty, despite denials. Unannounced projects hinted in financials.
Analysts at Polish brokerage firm Erste Brokerage believe CD Projekt Red might be working on a new DLC for Cyberpunk 2077. They point to rising support costs for the game after Phantom Liberty's launch and suggest this could indicate fresh content in development.
According to the analysts, the studio is using the original Cyberpunk 2077 engine for the new DLC. If it exists, the project may be smaller than Phantom Liberty and partly developed with outside help. One potential partner is Virtuos, a studio that already assisted with recent Cyberpunk 2077 updates and is reportedly recording new dialogue for the game.
From a business perspective, the move makes sense. A full-fledged Cyberpunk 2 is still far off, while Cyberpunk 2077 has regained strength after major patches and Phantom Liberty. A smaller story or content addition could sustain interest and keep sales strong until the sequel arrives.
Still, the situation is contradictory. The official Cyberpunk 2077 account has stated that the team is not working on any new expansions or DLC. Yet in a recent earnings report, CD Projekt Red mentioned two unannounced games or projects in final development, potentially launching in the coming quarters.
Erste Brokerage has previously forecast CD Projekt Red projects, including a possible Songs of the Past DLC for The Witcher 3 in 2027, which is why their latest speculation grabbed attention. For now, it's just an analytical guess, not an official announcement. If a new Cyberpunk 2077 DLC really exists, CD Projekt Red will likely only confirm it when the project is nearly ready to ship.
