OnePlus 16: a 185Hz screen and sub-1mm bezels are in the rumor mill

The rumored OnePlus 16 may get ultra-thin bezels, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chip and a 1.5K BOE panel, though the specs remain unofficial.

Insider Digital Chat Station has shared fresh details about OnePlus’s next flagship. The smartphone’s name is not mentioned directly, but the spec list lines up so closely with earlier OnePlus 16 rumors that it hardly looks like a coincidence.

According to the source, the company is testing a device based on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro processor. One of its key tricks could be a display with a 185Hz refresh rate. Earlier leaks even mentioned a panel running at up to 240Hz, but the insider now says that chasing even higher numbers could hurt image quality and may not be the most sensible move.

The phone is also said to feature a 6.78-inch BOE display with 1.5K resolution. If that rumor holds, the panel should bring a visible step forward in brightness, color reproduction and power efficiency compared with previous OnePlus flagships.

Another point of intrigue is the display bezels. The source claims they will measure less than 1mm on all four sides. If OnePlus really brings this to a retail device, the OnePlus 16 could compete for the title of one of the most borderless smartphones on the market. For comparison, leaks often cite the Meizu 22 among current reference points, with bezels of around 1.2mm.

Earlier reports also attributed a 200MP telephoto camera and a battery of about 9000mAh to the OnePlus 16. That sounds impressive, but for now it remains insider talk rather than official specifications.

The official announcement date has not been revealed yet. According to leaks, the OnePlus 16 could be presented in China before the end of 2026.
