MSI Maestro 500 Wireless: a headset for gaming, calls and daily work

MSI’s new wireless headset combines 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth 5.4 and wired audio, aiming at gaming, calls, music and everyday work.

MSI has introduced Maestro 500 Wireless, a wireless headset the company is positioning not only as a gaming accessory, but also as a versatile model for everyday work, calls, music and watching video. The main bet here is flexibility: the headset can connect to PCs, consoles, smartphones and other devices in several ways.

The headset uses 40 mm drivers with a claimed frequency range of up to 40 kHz. Active noise cancellation is included to reduce background noise, while transparency mode lets users hear surrounding sounds without taking the headphones off. Judging by the feature set, the model looks more like a hybrid headset for work and entertainment than a strictly gaming accessory.

For voice communication, MSI uses a hidden microphone system with beamforming and Environmental Noise Cancellation. These technologies are meant to pick up the user’s voice more clearly and suppress outside noise during calls, online meetings and gaming chats. Microphone control is intentionally simple: lower it to talk, raise it to mute.

Maestro 500 Wireless supports a 2.4 GHz radio connection, Bluetooth 5.4 and a standard wired connection through a 3.5 mm jack. That makes the headset suitable for use with PC, Mac, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. MSI also mentions Nahimic for Headset support, with 3D audio and expanded sound tuning.

Inside is a 1000 mAh battery which, according to MSI, provides up to 90 hours of use. Fast charging should deliver around six hours of playback after just five minutes plugged in. For carrying, the headset has a foldable design with swivelling ear cups, helping it take up less room in a bag.

MSI Maestro 500 Wireless will go on sale in selected regions through authorised retailers. Exact launch dates and pricing have not been announced yet, so its competitiveness against gaming and office wireless headsets will only become clear once it reaches stores.
