The new feature analyzes pet photos with AI to flag possible health issues earlier, but Samsung says it is not a substitute for a vet diagnosis.

Samsung has introduced an AI tool designed to help assess a pet’s health from an ordinary photo taken on a Galaxy smartphone. The announcement was shown at VivaTech 2026 in the Connected Care Ecosystem area, where the company demonstrated how the Galaxy ecosystem and Samsung Health platform could support proactive health monitoring.

The new feature was developed together with Lifet and is aimed at home use. An owner simply takes a photo of their pet, after which the AI analyzes the image and looks for possible signs of health issues. Samsung lists dental disease, patellar luxation and cataracts among the conditions it may flag.

The feature requires the SmartThings app and an additional pet care service. Availability may also depend on the region, country and specific device model.

Samsung stresses that this kind of check is not a replacement for a proper veterinary diagnosis. It is more of an assistive tool that could help owners notice a potential problem earlier. According to the company, the goal is to make pet care simpler and more accessible through smartphones and AI-based image analysis.
