Xiaomi is preparing HyperOS 4 with Android 17, a refreshed interface, deeper AI tools and a tentative list of eligible Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO devices.
Android 17 has already rolled out to Google Pixel phones, and the next big step for the Xiaomi ecosystem should be HyperOS 4. This update does not look like a routine annual version bump, but rather a fairly serious system overhaul: architectural changes, a refreshed interface, an interactive “island” on the lock screen, deeper AI features for everyday tasks, and stronger privacy and security tools are all expected.
Xiaomi has not published an official device list yet, so the current lineup is based on the company’s update policy and leaks. If the sources are right, HyperOS 4 should reach Xiaomi 13T, 14, 14T, 14 Civi, 15, 15T, 17, 17T and Mix Flip. On the Redmi side, the list includes the Redmi Note 14 and Note 15 series, Redmi 15, 15A, 15C, Redmi A5, A7, Redmi Turbo 5 and Redmi Pad 2. For POCO, the update is expected for the POCO F6, F7 and F8, X6, X7 and X8, M7 and M8 series, C71, C81 and C85, plus POCO Pad X1, Pad M1 and Pad C1. Devices that sources are unsure about were intentionally left out.
The exact release date has not been announced, but industry sources expect HyperOS 4 to be presented in July or August. The first launch will most likely be for China, with a global announcement following a few weeks later. Judging by last year’s timeline, when HyperOS 3 was shown in China in August and globally in September, international rollout of HyperOS 4 could begin in October 2026. Xiaomi is also expected to run a beta program before the stable release: according to Digital Chat Station, the first wave in China will include Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, 17 Ultra, 17 Max, as well as Redmi K90, K90 Pro Max and K90 Pro Max Champion Edition.
According to leaks, one of the key ideas behind HyperOS 4 will be the Zero-Legacy concept built on Android 17. Xiaomi is reportedly removing old code and outdated SDKs to reduce system clutter, lower RAM usage, speed up app launches and cut animation stutter. Some core apps and system components are said to be rewritten with Rust and Flutter. That should improve memory safety, background optimization and visual consistency across different devices.
Visually, HyperOS 4 is expected to push further into the “liquid glass” style that Xiaomi already previewed in HyperOS 3: glossy layers, translucent elements, frosted-glass effects and livelier animations are mentioned. The leaks also point to Leica-style color palettes, smarter cross-device multitasking, more aggressive background process management, contextual AI tools and a software-based screen privacy feature designed to protect the display from prying eyes, broadly similar in idea to Privacy Display on the Galaxy S26. The original material does not mention prices.
