Windows 11 includes Night Light, a display setting that warms screen colors and can run on a schedule for more comfortable evening work.
Windows 11 includes a built-in Night Light feature that many users only remember after long evening sessions at the computer. It helps reduce eye strain in darker hours, but it is usually turned off by default.
The Night Light feature reduces the amount of blue light emitted by the screen and gives the image a noticeably warmer tone. As a result, the eyes tire less, and working at a monitor in the evening or at night becomes more comfortable.
Night Light should not be confused with Night Mode. While Night Mode simply switches the Windows interface to darker colors, Night Light changes the display color temperature and reduces the impact of the cool blue spectrum.
The feature can be enabled in just a few steps: open System, go to Display, and turn on the Night Light switch. The same section also lets users set a schedule so Night Light turns on automatically, for example only in the evening.
Once enabled, the picture on the screen takes on a warmer shade. Its intensity can be adjusted manually: the higher the level, the more blue light is filtered and the softer the image appears.
