Internal builds for Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra point to HyperOS 3.3 on Android 17, while the public branding of the update remains open.
Xiaomi is preparing a major update based on Android 17, but it may not arrive under the expected HyperOS 4 name. Internal firmware for the flagship Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra points to testing of HyperOS 3.3, built on the new Android version.
The builds were found in engineering firmware files that are not meant for public release. That means Xiaomi is still testing the system internally, and the final name of the update may still change. Even so, the lack of HyperOS 4 mentions in these versions looks unexpected, since many users expected it to arrive together with Android 17.
According to preliminary information, the next major HyperOS version based on Android 17 should be introduced in the summer, likely in July or August. Before the announcement, the company will probably start publishing teasers, making it clearer whether users will get HyperOS 3.3 or a full HyperOS 4.0 release. Whatever the name, the update should bring noticeable changes: new interface elements, deeper integration of the Liquid Glass visual style, further development of personal AI, and internal optimizations designed to make the system faster and more responsive.
For now, owners of Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO devices should wait for official details. The internal builds confirm active work on Android 17, but they do not guarantee that HyperOS 3.3 will become the public version of the update.
