The update adds route planning for riders, with weather, elevation changes and scenic options for compatible motorcycle systems.
Android Auto and Apple CarPlay now have another navigation scenario that is no longer aimed only at cars. With the Sygic 26.4 update, both platforms gain motorcycle route support, a useful option for bike owners with compatible multimedia systems.
Android Auto and CarPlay were originally built around cars, but they are increasingly being used in other types of transport. Last year, Google also began changing wording inside Android Auto so the platform would fit more than just cars. Motorcycles are one of the clearest examples here: basic support has existed for several years, but the interface and routes have not always reflected the specifics of riding on two wheels.
Sygic is trying to close that gap. The app can now serve as an alternative to Google Maps and Apple Maps on motorcycles that support Android Auto or CarPlay. Its navigation takes into account data that matters especially to riders, including weather, elevation changes and scenic route options.
This approach makes navigation less generic, but much more useful for motorcyclists. Instead of simply taking the shortest path, a rider can choose a route that better suits the trip, the landscape or the weather conditions. That is especially relevant on longer journeys, where arrival time is far from the only important metric. Sygic 26.4 is already available.
