OnePlus exits Western markets as OPPO shifts phones to ColorOS

The brand is leaving two major regions, while OPPO promises ongoing support and plans to move existing OnePlus phones from OxygenOS to ColorOS.

OnePlus has confirmed its withdrawal from North America and Europe, while parent company OPPO has outlined what happens next. OnePlus will no longer launch new devices in these regions. The company describes the move as a change in strategic focus but has not yet said where the brand will continue releasing new products.

The decision is not entirely unexpected: OnePlus and OPPO have long shared hardware platforms, software foundations and supply chains. OnePlus co-founder Pete Lau returned to OPPO management in 2020 to oversee product planning. Against that backdrop, the line between the two brands has continued to fade.

Current OnePlus owners are being promised continued support. OPPO says it will honor warranty commitments, maintain after-sales service and keep providing software updates.

The most visible change will affect software. OPPO says OnePlus phones in Europe and North America will begin moving from OxygenOS to ColorOS in the coming months. That means even devices already sold will gradually switch to OPPO's own interface.

OnePlus leaving does not mean OPPO is abandoning the West. The company will continue selling smartphones and other devices in Europe, while it will no longer have a direct presence in the United States. No new OnePlus products are planned for either region.
