An unverified message attributed to Saber executive Steve Allison lists the Star Wars remake among projects the company hopes to prepare for 2028.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake has resurfaced after a long period of uncertainty. A screenshot posted on the Space Marine subreddit appears to show a message attributed to Steve Allison, Saber's new chief business officer, naming the project among games the company hopes to have ready for 2028.

The screenshot has not been officially authenticated, so it is too early to treat the claim as a firm announcement. If the post is genuine, Saber is tentatively placing KOTOR Remake in its 2028 lineup alongside Space Marine, John Wick and several unannounced projects.

The remake was unveiled at PlayStation Showcase 2021, but development later ran into serious trouble. Aspyr originally led the project, although reports said an internal presentation failed to satisfy Lucasfilm and prompted a restart. Aspyr was part of Embracer Group at the time, and the game later moved under Saber Interactive.

In March 2026, Saber creative director Tim Willits confirmed that the project was still in development. Journalist Stephen Totilo reported in late 2025 that the remake was being handled by Mad Head Games, a Saber subsidiary known for Pagan Online and Scars Above. If the current version has indeed been in production since around 2022, a 2028 target looks plausible, though it remains unofficial.

The same message attributed to Allison also says Saber does not intend to build its games around microtransactions. The company plans to rely mainly on sales of the base game, offer free DLC for the community and, when appropriate, release larger paid expansions.
