A new leak points to faster face recognition on the Pixel 11 and reveals Tensor G6, a brighter display and other possible Pixel 11a specifications.
New details about the Google Pixel 11 and Pixel 11a have surfaced online. According to Mystic Leaks, the flagship Pixel 11 series will feature improved face unlock. It is expected to become faster and more accurate, while also working more reliably in low light.
It is still unclear how Google plans to achieve this. The Pixel 11 was previously linked to an infrared facial-recognition system, but the same source said in May that the necessary hardware was not yet ready for production. The improvements may therefore be software-based, although a standard front-facing camera would struggle to increase recognition accuracy in darkness without additional illumination.
The Pixel 11a, codenamed Formosan, is reportedly set to use the Tensor G6 instead of a previous-generation processor. The leak also mentions the Titan M3 security chip, PowerVR C-Series CXTP-48-1536 graphics, a MediaTek M90 modem and 8 GB of RAM. Its 6.3-inch display is expected to retain a resolution of 1080 × 2424 pixels, while brightness could rise to 2,250 nits for HDR content and 3,350 nits at peak.
Battery capacity may decrease slightly, with the minimum rating listed at 4,870 mAh, compared with 5,000 mAh for the Pixel 10a. Only one camera detail has surfaced so far: a new front-facing module codenamed Dokkaebi. The phone is also said to come in Obsidian, Fog, Olive and Frost.
The Pixel 11a is expected to launch in March 2027. The source also mentioned a Pixel 12a codenamed Marmoset, but no other details are available yet.
