Samsung’s new foldable weighs 180 g, features a 4.1-inch cover display, a 4300 mAh battery and region-dependent flagship chips.
Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Z Flip 8, a new clamshell foldable that looks familiar but is noticeably easier to carry. The phone now weighs 180 grams, while its folded thickness has been reduced to 13.1 mm. Water and large-particle protection is rated at IP48.
The phone features a 6.9-inch foldable Dynamic AMOLED 2X display and a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED cover panel. Both screens support refresh rates of up to 120 Hz and peak brightness of 2600 nits. Samsung has also reworked the flexible panel so the crease should be less visible and the surface should feel closer to regular glass.
The hardware platform varies by market, with Exynos 2600 used in some regions. Samsung says CPU performance is up 30%, while graphics performance has improved by 25% compared with the Galaxy Z Flip 7. The device comes with 12 GB of RAM and 256 or 512 GB of storage.
The camera setup is largely unchanged: a 50 MP main camera with optical image stabilization, a 12 MP ultrawide camera and a 10 MP front camera. New features include a camcorder-style shooting mode and Horizon Lock, which keeps the horizon level when the phone is rotated.
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 runs One UI 9 based on Android 17. The cover screen can now launch apps, show Now Brief widgets and use Gemini-powered automations. The battery capacity is 4300 mAh, with 25 W wired charging. In the US, the phone starts at $1,199.99, which is $100 more than the Galaxy Z Flip 7.
