The next tri-fold Samsung phone may retain a 10-inch display and reach more markets, but the final launch plans remain unconfirmed.
Samsung has started early development of a new smartphone designed to fold three ways. Korean sources say the company has already shared preliminary information with partners, although the specifications, commercial name and final release plans have not yet been approved.
The original Galaxy Z TriFold went on sale in December 2025 and opened into a device with a 10-inch display. Samsung produced it in limited numbers for only a handful of markets, including South Korea, China, Taiwan, Singapore and the United States. It served more as a technology showcase than a mass-market product.
Sales of the first Galaxy Z TriFold in South Korea ended in March 2026. Despite strong interest and repeated restocks, production remained expensive, while rising memory prices pushed costs even higher. Remaining units continued to be sold in some other countries.
The next generation is expected to keep a display of roughly the same size but could receive much wider availability. Samsung has not made a final decision on markets, so reports of a global launch should still be treated as preliminary. Details about the processor, cameras, battery and hinge design have not been disclosed.
The new Galaxy Z TriFold may be unveiled in July 2027 alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 9 and Galaxy Z Flip 9. If the information proves accurate, Samsung's foldable lineup would gain a separate dual-hinge model alongside its book-style phones and clamshells.
