Broadcom's Tomahawk 6-Davisson is a 102.4 Tbps Ethernet switch with CPO optics, 200 Gbps per channel, and scalability for AI training, cloud, and data centers.

Broadcom has unveiled the Tomahawk 6-Davisson, the industry’s first Ethernet switch with 102.4 Tbps of throughput. In practical terms, it opens the door to faster, more stable data centers and cloud services, especially when workloads involve massive datasets or training artificial intelligence.

The chip is built with CPO (co-packaged optics), an approach that brings optical and electronic components into a single package. This design delivers twice the speed over the previous generation while trimming power consumption and improving overall efficiency.

Tomahawk 6-Davisson integrates 16 next-generation optical modules and supports data rates of up to 200 Gbps per channel. Its scalability allows operators to connect thousands of compute processors—vital for data centers powering AI services, cloud gaming, and streaming video.

Taken together, the chip marks a step toward even faster online services that remain steady under heavy demand. For users, that translates into smoother high-resolution video, quicker access to cloud apps, and more dependable AI-driven tools.
