Google rolls out Android Auto 15.4, fixing Pixel 10 connection bugs and adding Maps incident reporting, while preparing the platform for Gemini AI worldwide.

Google has quietly begun rolling out Android Auto 15.4. The update is already reaching users with automatic updates enabled in Google Play, though this time the release arrived later than usual after an extended beta. The company hasn’t disclosed the reasons, but the longer testing phase suggests a focus on ironing out issues before a wide launch.

As before, the rollout is staged so Google can watch for glitches and adjust the system before the new build lands for everyone. It’s a cautious approach, but one that typically pays off in the car, where reliability matters more than speed.

While detailed changelogs are no longer published, it’s clear that version 15.4 continues preparing the platform for the integration of the Gemini AI assistant, which will replace Google Assistant. The new system is designed to recognize context, understand complex requests, and offer personalized routes and recommendations. Also in testing are features like adapting interface accent colors to the phone’s wallpaper and introducing call notes, both expected to run through Gemini.

There are quieter improvements, too. Google Maps users now get a button for reporting road incidents even on smaller 7–8-inch screens, a capability that wasn’t available before. The update also includes fixes for issues that prevented Android Auto from connecting to the Google Pixel 10.

Android Auto 15.4 is expected to reach global availability in November. When it does, the update should install automatically on compatible devices, clearing the way for Google’s next big step: bringing full Gemini integration to the car.
