Samsung's Galaxy XR hides a USB-C port for keyboards, hubs, storage, DACs and video input - delivering more versatility than Vision Pro on open Android XR.

Samsung’s new Galaxy XR headset, positioned to take on Apple’s Vision Pro, turns out to be far more adaptable than first assumed. As UploadVR reports, the device includes a hidden USB Type-C port that Samsung left out of both the specifications and the official product page. Tucked beneath a small cover on the right temple of the frame, it quietly unlocks a surprising range of possibilities.

Through this USB-C port, users can hook up a broad lineup of wired accessories — keyboards, mice, Ethernet adapters, HDMI input, USB hubs, external DACs, webcams, and storage drives. Because Android XR is built on the open Android ecosystem, the headset plays nicely with most standard peripherals, which makes this concealed connector more than a technical footnote.

The same port can serve to play media straight from external storage or to pass video from other devices. In theory, the headset could even accept a video signal from handheld game consoles, though that hasn’t been officially confirmed. More concrete details should emerge once sales begin and early reviews arrive.

All told, Galaxy XR comes across as a more versatile headset than many XR rivals. If Samsung chooses to spotlight this hidden capability, it could become a decisive selling point — especially next to Vision Pro, where adding a comparable port requires Apple developer status and a separate $300 adapter. That contrast is likely to resonate with power users weighing their options.
