Insider Tyler McVicker says a Half-Life 3 trailer is in production for a November 2025 reveal, likely at The Game Awards, with a release date announcement close

It looks like the legendary Half-Life series may finally be edging toward a return. According to well-known insider Tyler McVicker, a Half-Life 3 trailer could be revealed as early as November 2025, with a release potentially following soon after.

McVicker maintains that development is in its final stretch. Speaking on his HLX Files podcast, he said the trailer is already in production and that Valve plans to show it around the same time it announces a release date. He indicated the debut could take place at The Game Awards 2025, which would be a symbolic return for the cult franchise two decades after the second game.

Fans are hoping Half-Life 3 will finally address the questions left hanging after Half-Life 2: Episode Two and carry forward a story that helped define first-person shooters. Valve, however, is keeping quiet: the company has made no official statements about the project, and many longtime players remain cautiously skeptical.

For now, it’s a waiting game until November to see whether McVicker’s forecast holds and whether Half-Life 3 is truly nearing release — or if the game once again slips back into the realm of gaming’s most enduring legends. Even so, the mere possibility already stirs that familiar spark of anticipation.
