Discover DJI’s Zenmuse L3 lidar: 950 m range, 2M pts/s, dual 100 MP cameras. Ideal for high-precision aerial surveying, DEM/DOM, forestry and energy mapping.
DJI has officially introduced its first long-range, high-precision lidar for aerial mapping — the Zenmuse L3 system, which combines a lidar module, a dual 100‑MP camera setup, and high-accuracy navigation. It is aimed at professional work in surveying, landslide and rockfall monitoring, engineering surveys, forestry, and the energy sector. The recommended price is 109,080 yuan.
At its core, the Zenmuse L3 uses a 1,535 nm laser that measures distances of up to 950 meters. Typical flight altitude is 300–500 meters, making the system well suited to large-scale mapping. The beam divergence is just 0.25 mrad — five times smaller than the previous Zenmuse L2 — which helps pick out fine details such as wires or branches. Pulse rate reaches 2 million points per second for high point density.
The system is equipped with two 100‑megapixel 4/3" CMOS sensors with a mechanical shutter that can combine pixels into 25‑megapixel images. The camera delivers a 107° field of view and can simultaneously capture data for digital orthophoto maps (DOM) and digital elevation models (DEM) with only 20% laser strip overlap, a setup that puts efficiency front and center.
Thanks to a smaller laser spot and high pulse energy, the Zenmuse L3 produces accurate data even over complex terrain. Paired with a DJI Matrice 400 drone, a single flight can cover up to 10 km², while daily productivity can reach 100 km² — figures that speak to large-area missions.
For operators, the system supports the Pilot 2 controller with a split-screen view showing lidar data, a video feed, and auxiliary imagery. Collected data can be reviewed and processed via the DJI SkyCity 2 cloud platform, which adds analysis tools and route planning — a reminder that a smooth workflow can matter as much as raw specs.
On the security side, the Zenmuse L3 offers hardware encryption for CFexpress cards, AES-256 protection for data transmission, and instant log deletion. Buyers get one year of DJI Care Flagship service, which includes free repairs, priority support, and two-way shipping at no extra cost.
With the Zenmuse L3, DJI strengthens its standing in professional aerial imaging, bringing a compact yet capable package that blends precision lidar, optical capture, and cloud services into a cohesive, intelligent system.
