AYANEO Next 2 pairs AMD’s Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 APU (16-core Zen 5, RDNA 3.5) with dual-fan cooling, 45–65 W TDP and premium controls. Launch planned for 2025.

AYANEO has unveiled a reworked design for its Next 2 handheld, set to be among the first systems built around AMD’s flagship Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 APU. The device arrives with a completely refreshed look, a stronger hardware platform, and an advanced dual-fan cooling setup.

AYANEO Next 2 is equipped with a Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 featuring 16 Zen 5 CPU cores and integrated Radeon 8060S graphics with 40 compute units on the RDNA 3.5 architecture. According to the company, the handheld will deliver performance comparable to discrete GPUs and rank among the most powerful portable PCs on the market. On paper, that target pushes it into laptop territory for raw performance — a bold aim for a handheld.

The system brings a higher-capacity built-in battery and optimized power use; in its maximum power mode, TDP is stated at 45 to 65 W, which for a battery-powered device is already a technical achievement. That kind of headroom is ambitious and will put the cooling design under the spotlight.

The display is promised to deliver top-tier image quality, and the controls include large Hall-effect analog sticks, a floating D-pad, dual triggers and buttons, plus smart touchpads. The chassis shifts to a more traditional shape reminiscent of the AYANEO Kun, moving away from the earlier form factor that echoed the ROG Ally.

Other highlights include support for bright AYANEO Luminous Nameplate RGB lighting, a hybrid cooling system, and high screen brightness for comfortable play in varied conditions. The emphasis on feel and feedback suggests the company is aiming for a premium experience to match the specs.

The new console is positioned to go head-to-head with devices like the GPD Win 5, OneXPlayer OneXfly Apex, and the ROG Ally, while AYANEO is betting on a muscular APU with a focus on AI features and desktop-class performance. If those promises hold, Next 2 could reset expectations for portable PCs.

Timing and pricing remain undisclosed. According to available information, AYANEO plans to release the Next 2 in 2025, making it one of the first gaming handhelds built on the AMD Strix Halo platform.
