Apple's AirPods Pro 3 launch September 9 with heart-rate and body temperature sensors, better sound, and iOS 26. Live translation arrives later on iPhone.

Apple is preparing to unveil AirPods Pro 3, and the headline update is a set of built‑in health sensors: body temperature tracking and a heart‑rate monitor. With those additions, the earbuds move beyond pure audio gear and start to look like a compact tool for keeping tabs on your wellbeing.

The much‑touted live speech translation won’t be ready at launch and will arrive later through iOS updates. Initially, translation will work only via the Translate app on iPhone. That should make multilingual conversations easier, even if the process won’t be fully autonomous inside the AirPods themselves.

Apple has been steering AirPods toward health for some time. Earlier features included hearing checks and the ability to use the earbuds as a hearing aid; now the emphasis broadens to other physical indicators. The trajectory feels logical: building on hearing support to cover more aspects of everyday health.

The AirPods Pro 3 debut is set for September 9 alongside iPhone 17. Beyond the new sensors, expect a refreshed design, better sound, and additional features rolling out with iOS 26.
