Rockstar Games has reportedly intensified its internal measures to prevent information leaks, according to foreign media reports. The studio is said to be deliberately circulating false information within the team to identify employees who might be sharing confidential details about GTA 6 development with third parties. This comes as the project is reportedly nearing completion, with preparations for a major marketing campaign potentially entering an active phase soon.
Insiders note that the studio is employing so-called "honeypot" methods—providing slightly different details to various employee groups. This approach allows them to trace the source of any leak if information appears publicly. Such practices are used by major corporations to protect strategically important products, and in the case of GTA 6, security measures appear to have reached unprecedented levels.
Rockstar has previously demonstrated a firm stance on disclosing internal information. Late last year, the company dismissed dozens of employees, citing "serious disciplinary violations" related to sharing unannounced materials and confidential GTA 6 data. The studio emphasized its zero-tolerance policy toward leaks and stated it would respond with maximum severity to any such incidents.
Furthermore, it has been officially confirmed that two separate incidents occurred in November 2023 and November 2025, resulting in the dismissal of employees from the United States and India, respectively. The tightening of controls underscores the high stakes Rockstar is placing on the release of GTA 6, as the company aims to preserve informational intrigue until official announcements and protect the project from premature disclosure of details.
