Hidden Galaxy Z Fold 7 Bug Enables Triple-App Multitasking Mode

Owners of Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 have stumbled upon an unexpected perk — one the company never officially announced. In the latest build of One UI 8, users discovered a glitch that enables them to run three apps side by side on the main screen. While the device officially supports only two apps in split-screen mode, this bug effectively unlocks a capability reminiscent of OnePlus Open’s signature «Open Canvas» feature.

The unusual behavior was first spotted by a Reddit user and later confirmed by several other owners. Triggering the triple-window setup is surprisingly simple: open two apps in the standard split-screen mode, navigate to the Edge Panel settings, and then exit immediately. At that point, the system appears to «forget» its current limitation, allowing a third app to be pinned to the side. Although the feature can be unstable and adjusting window sizes isn’t always smooth, it has already sparked excitement among foldable phone enthusiasts.

Samsung has yet to comment on the matter, leaving it unclear whether the glitch will be patched out in the next update or evolve into an official feature. For now, the mere fact that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 can handle a three-window multitasking mode hints that an official counterpart to Open Canvas might one day make its way into the Fold’s software.
