ASUS ROG Night Demon Extreme SE: a transparent 75% gaming keyboard

ASUS has rolled out a special edition of its flagship mechanical keyboard in China — the ROG Night Demon Extreme SE. Outside the country, the model is known as the ROG Azoth Extreme, but this SE version goes fully transparent and adopts a refreshed visual style that instantly sets it apart in the premium gaming crowd.

The headline change is a set of fully transparent keycaps that turns the RGB lighting into a dazzling light show and leans into a distinctive, crystal-like look. The switches follow suit with clear housings, offered in linear ROG NX Snow or clicky ROG NX Storm variants — a deliberate design made to be seen.

Under the shine, the Night Demon Extreme SE remains a top-tier ASUS build: a three-quarter (75%) layout, a hefty milled aluminum chassis, an FR4 plate, and three layers of sound and vibration damping for a cushioned feel and pleasant acoustics. The box also includes a comfortable wrist rest with a transparent base.

On the performance side, the keyboard is tuned for esports. It supports a true 8,000 Hz polling rate both wired and over wireless thanks to the ROG Polling Rate Booster module. There’s a Speed Tap mode that enhances responsiveness during strafing in shooters. Unlike Hall-effect boards, it doesn’t offer adjustable actuation — the emphasis here is on consistency and speed rather than fine-tuning.

One of its signature touches is a built-in touch-enabled OLED display that can show keyboard status, CPU temperature, animations, and system information. A multifunction control further streamlines adjustments and media control, the kind of convenience that quickly becomes second nature.

The ASUS ROG Night Demon Extreme SE is already on sale in China for 3,599 yuan. Global availability hasn’t been confirmed; still, given the recent Azoth lineup refresh in the U.S., a broader release feels within reach.
