Lenovo's next-gen Legion gaming tablets tipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and 8 Elite

Lenovo is gearing up the next generation of its Legion gaming tablets, and a fresh leak suggests the company is once again aiming to impress on raw performance. Insider Smart Pikachu reports that the brand is developing two compact models—one with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and the other with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The familiar 16:10 aspect ratio is set to stay, just like on the popular Legion Y700.

It looks like Lenovo will revisit last year’s approach. The Legion Y700 (Gen 4) for the Chinese market shipped with Snapdragon 8 Elite, while the global Legion Tab went with the more modest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. A similar split may return in 2026: a new Legion Tab with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, and the China-bound Legion Y700 (Gen 5) stepping up to Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The strategy comes across as a pragmatic way to serve different markets without losing focus.

The leak lines up with recent information from another reliable source. Expectations for the 2026 Legion Y700 include an 8.8-inch LCD with 3K resolution, a 165 Hz refresh rate, and the same 16:10 layout. Power is said to come from a 9,000 mAh battery, while cooling will rely on a large vapor chamber—an essential addition to keep temperatures in check with a top-tier processor.

If these details hold up, Lenovo looks set to strengthen its standing in compact gaming tablets, delivering flagship-level speed without giving up the portable 16:10 form factor.
