Cloudflare outage disrupts websites and X worldwide

A large-scale outage in Cloudflare’s infrastructure has knocked numerous apps and websites offline or left them struggling. Among the affected services is the social network X, where users cannot post or refresh their feeds. The issue is hitting web users worldwide.

Cloudflare said it is investigating a wave of errors and confirmed the disruption has reached many customers. The interruptions have been ongoing for about half an hour. Some people are met with a page asking them to unblock challenges.cloudflare.com to proceed, while others run into standard 500 errors.

As with the October Amazon Web Services outage, there is little end users can do right now: they have to wait for Cloudflare to fix the fault and for services to come back online. Episodes like this quietly remind how a single stumble by a major internet provider can ripple across much of the web.
