Galaxy Buds 3 FE vs Buds FE: stem design, ANC, price

Samsung has unveiled the refreshed Galaxy Buds 3 FE — a pricier, more capable take on last year’s Galaxy Buds FE. The main visual change is immediate: the Buds 3 FE adopt a stem, like the Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro. The shape isn’t to everyone’s taste, yet it makes gesture control simpler, improves day‑to‑day handling, and boosts dust and water protection (IP54 versus the modest IPX2 on the Buds FE).

There’s even more happening under the hood. The 6.5 mm drivers have been swapped for 11 mm units, and Bluetooth moves from 5.2 to 5.4. That doesn’t promise a sonic revolution, but it does open the door to more stable connectivity and broader features. Both models support AAC, SBC, and SSC; the Buds 3 FE also add 360 Audio and expanded equalizer options.

Noise cancellation also improves: the Buds 3 FE suppress outside sounds more effectively and offer flexible control over transparency mode. On top of that come Hey Gemini voice commands, which the Buds FE don’t support.

Battery life is almost a wash: with ANC off, the Buds 3 FE last up to 24 hours with the case, versus 21 on the Buds FE. The price gap, however, is substantial: $150 versus $70.

It’s a familiar Samsung play: keep the FE line within reach while nudging buyers toward the upgrade with clear improvements. If ANC, water resistance, and voice features matter, the Buds 3 FE make a solid case for the premium. If you’re watching your budget, the original Buds FE remain a dependable pick.
