Rolls-Royce Ghost Gamer: bespoke 8-bit luxury for retro fans

According to SPEEDME, Rolls-Royce has unveiled the exclusive Ghost Gamer—a bespoke commission for a wealthy devotee of retro games. Styled after the 8-bit console era, it ranks among the marque’s most unusual projects.

The exterior wears a two-tone palette—Salamanca Blue and Diamond Black. The star, however, is the hand-painted coachline: Rolls-Royce artists depicted a pixelated Cheeky Alien and a stylized 8-bit explosion. The motif is made up of 89 miniature pixels, each 3×3 mm—a direct salute to the heyday of Nintendo and Sega.

Inside, the theme continues with even more confidence. Illuminated sill plates greet the owner with the phrases Level Up, Press Start and Insert Coin. The seats carry Player 1–4 designations in a pixel style. The fold-out tables are finished with metal plaques featuring the same alien character, and the center panel between the seats adds ships reminiscent of classic Space Invaders. The result feels playful rather than gimmicky—fan nostalgia filtered through exacting craftsmanship.

The Starlight Headliner—the brand’s signature “starry ceiling”—gets a standout rework: in Ghost Gamer it transforms into a space-battle arena. Eighty fiber-optic “cruisers” simulate laser fire thanks to specially developed firmware. It’s a neat way to turn an icon into a narrative detail.

The technical package remains unchanged: under the expansive hood works a 6.75-liter V12 delivering 591 hp and 900 Nm. In other words, Ghost Gamer is both a collectible art piece and a genuine ultra-luxury sedan with ample power in reserve—more than enough to keep it from feeling like a mere show prop.
