Nano Banana Pro, powered by Gemini 3 Pro: smarter image generation and editing

Google has expanded its image generation and editing tool Nano Banana, introducing a new version—Nano Banana Pro—built on the Gemini 3 Pro model that was officially unveiled the day before. The revamp brings substantial upgrades that sharpen visual fidelity and improve how the system handles context.

According to Google, Nano Banana Pro can assist with virtually any kind of visual material: from prototypes and infographics to charts automatically formed from handwritten notes. With strengthened reasoning chains, a firmer grasp of the real world, and access to up-to-date data, the system can produce highly precise learning materials and visual cues. The direction is clear: it’s not just about making pictures, but about assembling useful, explainable visuals.

Through integration with Google Search, the Pro version can visualize information in real time—for instance, produce an image of a dish from a recipe, surface current weather details, or display sports statistics.

Text handling is one of the headline improvements. Nano Banana Pro renders on-image wording far more faithfully: layouts, posters, and charts can now feature crisp, detailed typography, including complex typefaces, calligraphic touches, and varied textures. Thanks to Gemini’s multilingual architecture, the system can author text in different languages, translate it, or localize existing visual content.

The system also gains advanced composition tools: combining up to 14 images into a single scene; maintaining the likeness of up to five faces at once; making pinpoint, local edits to any part of an image; changing camera angle, depth of field, lighting, and color grading with one prompt; and generating across a wide range of aspect ratios at 2K and 4K. Taken together, it reads like a push toward precise control without leaving the prompt.

Nano Banana Pro is already available worldwide in the Gemini app under the "Create images" mode when the "Reasoning" model is selected. Free users receive a limited quota, after which the system switches to the standard Nano Banana. Subscribers to Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra get an expanded generation limit.

In the United States, Nano Banana Pro is also available to Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in the "AI in Search" mode. The updated model has likewise arrived in NotebookLM for subscribed users worldwide.
