Galaxy S26 Edge Debuts with Bigger Battery and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2

Samsung is preparing to launch the Galaxy S26 Edge, and regulatory filings reveal it will come with a 4,300 mAh battery. That’s a clear jump from the 3,900 mAh found in the Galaxy S25 Edge and, according to sources, close to the limit for lithium-ion cells in smartphones this thin. Despite the capacity increase, the body will be 0.3 mm slimmer, making it one of the thinnest devices in its category to house such a large battery.

The phone will run on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 chipset, as Samsung has reportedly delayed plans to use the Exynos 2600 due to production issues. Notably, in terms of battery capacity, the S26 Edge surpasses the upcoming iPhone 17 Air by almost 50 percent — rumors suggest Apple’s new model will carry just a 2,900 mAh cell, with endurance relying heavily on AI-based power management.

The S26 Edge is shaping up to offer a mix of flagship-level performance and battery life that’s unusually generous for an ultra-thin handset. For Galaxy S25 Edge owners, the extra 400 mAh could be a compelling reason to upgrade, though for most users it’s likely to feel more like a welcome improvement than a must-have change.
