Bowers & Wilkins has introduced a new signature take on its premium wireless headphones: the Px8 S2 McLaren Edition, created in partnership with McLaren Automotive and the McLaren Formula 1 team. The model arrives in the signature McLaren Papaya shade paired with deep Anthracite Grey, with the unmistakable Speedmark on the headband and earcups. Logos sit on diamond-cut elliptical plates, while the earpads and headband are finished in supple Nappa leather — a look that feels tailored rather than flashy.
The focus here is sound. The Px8 S2 McLaren Edition uses updated 40 mm Carbon Cone drivers with a completely reworked voice coil, suspension and magnet. The drivers are angled toward the ear to sharpen detail and imaging accuracy. There’s support for Qualcomm aptX Adaptive 24/96, aptX Lossless and B&W’s own DSP, which delivers 24-bit audio at up to 96 kHz — a spec sheet that reads like more than a simple style collaboration.
Active noise cancellation, according to the company, operates without compromising sound quality. Control runs through the Bowers & Wilkins Music app, where users can adjust ANC, transparency, battery level, sensor sensitivity and the Quick Action button. A five-band EQ with saved presets is also on hand, offering welcome fine-tuning without fuss.
Battery life is rated at up to 30 hours, and a quick 15-minute charge provides seven hours of listening. Sales begin on November 19. Sound United president Lyle Smith said this special edition underscores the brands’ deep and ongoing collaboration. The Px8 S2 McLaren Edition will be available via the Bowers & Wilkins website and select retailers for £729, €829 and $899 — pricing that clearly places it in the luxury lane.
