OnePlus 15R tipped to pack Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, dual 50MP cameras

OnePlus is preparing a new affordable flagship, and a fresh leak suggests the OnePlus 15R will carry one of the most powerful next-generation chipsets. The phone has already surfaced in teasers ahead of a global launch, and tipster Debayan Roy says his sources have confirmed it will arrive with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5.

That would place the OnePlus 15R a step below the main OnePlus 15 flagship, which uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, yet it should still deliver current top-tier performance—particularly in games. If the leak holds up, this would be the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 phone to reach international markets.

The insider also claims the OnePlus 15R will feature a dual rear camera with 50MP and 50MP sensors. These specs line up with expectations for the Ace 6T, a model set to debut in China and likely to serve as the blueprint for the global 15R. The Ace 6T is anticipated to pair a 50-megapixel main sensor with a 50-megapixel ultrawide.

Interestingly, compared with last year’s OnePlus 13R—which offered a triple camera including a telephoto—the new 15R opts for a simpler setup. The move echoes the approach taken with the core OnePlus 15 flagship, where some features were dialed back to keep the price in check. It reads as a pragmatic trade-off: prioritizing speed over optics often resonates with gaming-focused buyers.

There is no official confirmation yet, so the details should be treated with caution. OnePlus is expected to share more information soon.
